High-Quality Wireless Saber Sound Kit*
Computer-Aided Professional Sound Module
Are you ready for the ultimate in real-time saber play?
Our technology is 3 yrs. in the making and is finally available to
the public!
Our professional saber sound kit uses a wireless link that allows you
to add interactive sound to your favorite saber or other prop. You
can use it to fully reenact real-time sword "duels" and even perform
simulated saber play.
Our sound kits utilize state-of-the-art motion circuitry to measure
the user's own body movements. The package is capable of playing
CD quality sounds and can also patch in to a home stereo. The only
requirements are a PC with a sound card and free serial port, and the
off-the-shelf receiver and transmitter modules.
How many times have you sat in your living room watching your
favorite movie scene, reciting lines and voicing all the cool sound
effects? Well now you can recreate your favorite movie scenes with
full sound effects, music, and more!! You can literally immerse
yourself in a motion-activated "duel" or just have fun in your own
living room. Never before have you and your friends been able to
accomplish this.
Movie studios use Foley artists and post processed sound editing to
make their movies come alive. But now you can accomplish the same feat
in real time!!!
The key lies in our universal motion to sound "linking", which allows
you to link any computer wav file (of your choosing) to specified motion
"events" (such as swinging a saber, saber clashing sounds, moving in a
certain manner, or any other type of definable motion).
The wireless modules (not included) use the common 900MHz band to
transmit purely digital signals. This enables us to generate the
highest quality sound effects because no static, noise, or other audio
fading is experienced in the wireless link!!
Our technology is state of the art and is only available here!!
Operation
You can install the saber module into your own custom hilt or even wear
it on your wrist - making it compatible with every saber you have! Here
are some of the features to demonstrate how easy it is to use.
- Just power up the saber module, the receiver module, and the PC
program. Once you press the activation button, the saber "On" sound
plays out, which is then mixed together with a seamlessly-looped hum
sound.
- When you swing the saber, automatic swing sounds are
randomly chosen and mixed in with the hum sound.
- Once a vigorous waving or sudden stop motion is detected,
one of the selected clash sounds is played out.
- Likewise, if a sudden motion is made forwards or backwards
only, then a selected strike (or hand push) sound is played out.
- Pushing the activation button once again plays the saber "Off"
sound.
Nothing could be easier.
Demo Movies
Here is are a couple demo movies of the saber motion-unit operating in
real time. These movies demonstrate just a small number of
different sound applications you can perform! There is no limit to your
imagination.

All the sounds are crystal clear wav sounds played out of your
PC. Say goodbye to static, noise, or other interfering sources! You
are simply unable to achieve this type of quality with a FM transmitter
solution.
The off-the-shelf RF modules also have up to 8 channels to choose
from. Did we mention you can have 8 friends with sound modules
performing in the same area, all of them using their own special sound
effects?
Technical Specifications
- Digital data transmission for reliable operation in tough
environments.
- No loss of audio quality as seen in analog FM transmitter
solutions.
- Fully customizable swing and clash events with CD-quality sounds.
- Software allows computer wav sounds linked to each event.
Never before done!
- Up to 8 people can use different modules in close proximity
- this gives the opportunity to create massive real-time fight scenes
with all digital sound effects. No more Foley-artists needed!!
- Professional grade electronics for the movie industry,
professional costumer, or hobbyist.
- You can even have background WAV or MP3 music mixed in with
the sound effects to create the ultimate "movie-like" saber scene.
The saber sound module package consists of three pieces:
- The Remote Motion-Activated Unit: This miniature board
measures 1.2" x 3.5" and can accept an off-the-shelf RF transmitter
(or one of your own design). This module is responsible for measuring
motion at the source and sending that data out a serial link (wireless
or wired). All data is sent digitally for superb quality. For the
aforementioned wireless modules, you can be up to 1000' away (in ideal
environments) and still conduct a session!!

A small amount of assembly is required to finish the
motion unit. For wireless operation, you must install the transmitter
module and connect up the battery connector and switches. The unit can
run off a myriad of different batteries, from coin cells to a 9V
battery! The transmitter module is not included with the kit*. But
you can easily order one from
Digi-key.
- The Base Station Unit: This board connects up to
your computer's standard serial COM port. It can receive data (wired
or wireless) from the motion unit, which then passes that information
to the computer for analysis and sound playback. The aforementioned
RF receiver module is an off-the-shelf board.

- The PC Motion Analysis and Sound Playback Program:
The software program is the heart of the system. The program reads
the incoming motion data received from the wireless receiver unit and
analyzes the data for different motion "events". The program allows
you to link any number of computer wav file sounds to these different
"events". In our saber sound application, events are specified as
saber on/off, saber swings, saber clashes, saber strikes, and saber
hum orientation. You can specify any number of swing sounds, strike
sounds, and clash sounds to play out once these events are detected.
You can even set custom swing and clash thresholds for the saber
motion, which conforms to your unique fighting style. The program
also has a range test application and real-time graphs to show your
registered motion. Real-time saber play has never been easier!!

running Windows 98/2000/XP/Me):
